CO HOME | Basement Home Decor

It’s finally done!! (well mostly) Over a year ago we moved into our new home in the Denver, CO area and had a *NEW* space that homes in Texas don’t typically have.. a basement!

When we toured this home as it was being built this area was something that we loved with a walk out to the backyard, guest room, bathroom, office, and large open area. We have taken our time to find the home decor that fits this space and our home in general, see our Living Room & Kitchen and Primary Bedroom in these posts.

The issue with these types of spaces is that they had to play several different roles of play area, sitting area, and kitchen. We knew that we would section off this front area for watching TV and relaxing while the back area would hold my son’s toys.

It took us months to find the furniture we wanted, that would brighten the space but still be comfortable and durable for a family. We landed on this couch from Pottery Barn that has a light grey (Dove) performance fabric. Then an accent chair (for the dads) in leather to bring in some warmth.

Now while we did invest in more expensive furniture I like to balance it with less expensive decor and that’s when I get in trouble at Target and Amazon because I could buy it all! The large art behind the couch is from Amazon and I loved this set of 3 prints I have them in 2 spaces in our home! This is the 24×36 size that really helps fill up this large blank wall.

To help separate the space and give another place to set drinks we added this open bookshelf in the same family of furniture. Decorating this open space can be tricky and I’m the type to switch up this decor seasonally or when I find some new gem at Target that I’m loving.

Since we have both black and gold in this space I added some bronze accessories to compliment the brushed gold pull and faucet at the kitchenette across from this space.

Since the basement has our main guest room we wanted to add this kitchenette with sink and refrigerator to make this space even more useable for entertaining.

Initially, we were going to put in deep shelves spanning the length of this wall but after looking at how we have used this space we found these smaller floating shelves at Target and they work great for mugs and a few decor pieces.

The last few accents I added were these vases that I found on Amazon and at Kirkland’s! Having our beach home professionally decorated and for sure stole a few ideas from their accessorizing to bring to this space. I loved the grouping of vases on the table and recreated with these.

I get questions a lot on this table and chairs but we bought it years ago at ZGallerie and have been unable to find anything similar since.
