When we moved into our new home in Denver, the floor plan did not really have an office space, so I took over a bedroom for my office. As I moved in, I felt like I would have okay storage, but over the past year, I realized I really needed a closet system like I had in our Texas home (see my old space here).

I called Colorado Space Solutions, which designed our primary closet, to design a built-in desk and two walls of closet storage. I knew that I wanted to have a ton of shoe storage (a mistake I made in my last office) and lots of long hanging areas for new items that arrive.

Additionally, we did a lot of drawers and closed storage for the random items like files and electronic equipment I keep, but it isn’t as aesthetically pleasing to keep out.

Now, with every project, there were a few hiccups! When they arrived to install the system, we realized there was a smoke alarm right in the way of where the right panel would hit the ceiling, so we had to shift everything to the left about 4 inches, which made the corner a bit tighter than originally designed.

Also, on the day of installation, they mistakenly drilled the drawer pulls the wrong size, and they were too short for the long gold handles designed for the room. It took a few weeks but they came back to replace the silver pulls with the correct drawer fronts (as well as the correct gold bar).

Once it was all in, the most fun part started, which was organization! I tend to make this space a little crazy with things in and out, so unless everything has a home, it can get overwhelming. I found these amazing belt organizers that are perfect for my drawers, as well as my favorite Neat Method drawer dividers.

One of the biggest changes was getting a built-in desk with actual drawer storage! I requested that the bottom drawer also house my printer so I could keep the desk area clear (needed when I do Amazon Lives and have a lot of products near me).
