Honestly I still can’t believe it’s real! For more years than I can remember my husband and I have dreamed about owning a home in Galveston, TX. For years on the blog I’ve talked about what this place means to us and our family and for years it was just not the right time or we couldn’t find the right house.
In summer 2023 we found it! While I was VERY wary about another new build (our experience in Colorado was scarring) we fell in love with everything about this home, well except the exterior color.. it will for sure change at some point.
The home was named for my mother in law, Kathy who loves Blue Crabs. We always wanted to have a home for her and my father in law back in the town they grew up in.
After our move to Colorado and knowing what time and effort goes into decorating a house I started looking for interior designers to help. I found MDC Fine Living, a local company that specializes in short term rentals and home staging. They asked for my esthetic and Pinterest boards for inspiration and came up with the most stunning designs. Then we waited! It took longer to close on the house and get all the furniture in but in early December it was done!

KITCHEN
One of the reasons we fell in love with this home is the beautiful kitchen! With double ovens and seating for 14 it’s the perfect place to host friends and family. I have linked as many items as I could but Mitchell does an incredible job of finding the perfect accessories at all kinds of places (including local shops) that can’t be linked.

LIVING ROOM
I’m such a fan of the costal modern look and I knew I wanted pieces that would feel beachy but also very durable. These couches are soooo comfortable (they have been nap tested by a few of us) but also clean up easily. The media console was going to be a different style but it was on major backorder so this one ended up working well and holds all our family board games and a few blankets.

Off the living room and kitchen is a half bath that is great to have for hosting instead of having people in the primary bathroom which is also on this main floor.
PRIMARY BEDROOM
The only bedroom on the main floor is the primary bedroom with walk-in closet, en suite bath and stunning deck. MDC Fine Living put in a king size bed with gel mattress which is incredibly comfortable and I love the amount of storage space in the dresser and side tables.
Another small detail is each bedside table is equipped with USB charging port that has 2 standard outlets, 2 USB and a USB C perfect for all the travel devices.

The Primary Bath has a nice walk in closet with built-in dresser. The shower has both rain and wand for sandy feet and a soaking tub. The double vanity is great for me and my husband plus TONS of linen storage.
Off of the primary is a private deck that has the most beautiful view of the sunrise over the ocean. We have two comfortable chairs with footrest and side table.

JR SUITE
Walking upstairs there is a 2nd suite which makes this home great for multiple families. It has a king size bed, private deck and en-suite bathroom. The shades are blackout but if you want to fully darken the room we have these cool suction cup blackout out curtains that you can hang over the glass door for a fully darkened room.

BUNK ROOM
Down the hall is the bunk room, this was another feature of this house that made us fall in love! It has two twin upper bunks, two lower full size bunks and a built in desk with drawers.
MDC Fine Living outfitted this room originally with duvets but when our kids spend extended time here we love Beddy’s. Beddy’s are a zippered bedding that makes it so easy to make the upper bunks as well as the lower bunks. They come in a ton of colors and styles we opted for Harper Luxe that has some texture and light grey color.

One of the kids favorite spaces is this built-in desk where they keep their toys, art supplies and shell treasures. Sorry if you find a little sand in here! Attached to the bunk room is this tub shower bathroom great for kids of all ages!
GUEST ROOM
Across from the bunk room and connected with a jack and jill bathroom is a 3rd guest bedroom. This bedroom has a queen bed and great for families with younger kids since a pack n’ play or toddler bed fits great in the office.

When we first saw this home we were not quite excited about this half room but I LOVE how it turned out! It the prefect place for me to set up my laptop when we are staying for an extended time. Also it has enough room for families that need a nursery area to switch to a changing table and set up a pack n play.

At the end of the hall is another large deck so we placed a seating area and several chaise chairs. On this top level we also have a laundry room with full refrigerator so we don’t have to go downstairs to grab a drink while lounging on the deck.
Our home is in a beautiful subdivision on the west end of Galveston about a block from the beach. We loving being able to feel the breeze from our decks and the short walk to the sand. Having this beautiful place is a dream come true!
