Each year I try and do my best to put together outfits for fall. This way you can look through your closet and check to see what you already have but also some NEW items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that you can add to your wardrobe.

Yesterday I got a chance to shop in person during the sale and check out the items first hand. That’s my favorite way to try to find wish list items along with trying on items I might have missed during the preview. Like all years some items come a bit later so I will continue to update this post as I receive items for fit tips and honest feedback on fabric and styles.
Now the biggest difference this year is the majority of other items that I purchased online don’t arrive until well into the sale (around July 17th & 19th) which will make it very hard to give accurate sizing prior to items selling out so this year go with your best guess if you love it and fingers crossed it all fits!
EVERYDAY CASUAL
With these outfits I was able to find some of the items from my initial list and found some other pieces that fit my style. I had a chance to try on some alternative tops and great jeans options!

This sale I decided to try a few items from Veronica Beard a more high end brand and really loved this blouse and herringbone blazer. I have a conference in October that I feel like both would be perfect for. The Good American Flare jeans are also so comfortable with a bit of stretch but don’t come in lengths so will need to get these hemmed.

If you are looking for a less expensive option for a fall blouse this one has such great colors and love the lightweight fabric that can be worn in early fall or if you live in CO right now lol! This style wide leg jeans I bought a few months ago and can’t say I wear a ton but I like having the style option so I won’t keep this pair since I don’t feel like I wear them enough for 2 washes.

This sweater was my favorite I found in the store! I love the high-low hem, and its weight is great for cooler fall evenings in Colorado. These jeans were also my favorite in-store jeans purchase with a good straight leg and step hem, making them cute with booties, sneakers, and sandals.

The other jean I really loved are these Madewell kick out crop that I have a few of this style from Madewell. I wished they had the button fly style in-store as well, but I ended up ordering them.
Halogen Striped Sweater | Good American Step Hem Jeans

Now this sweater I was on the fence on. My assistant Kristen loved it, and she snagged in another strip color, but I ended up passing since I wasn’t 100% sold on the cut and fabric.

Another style that missed the mark for me was this 1 State sweater. I’m not a fan of these wide-arm styles; they make me feel like I have flippers!

This is another item I was on the fence about. I loved the colors of this poplin blouse, but once I brought it home and tried it on again, it was just too stiff and scratchy. The dark-wash Good American jeans, though, were a slam dunk. Once again, it’s a brand and style I love, but in a wash I don’t have, so major win!

This was the second sweater I grabbed in-store, and honestly, it’s a little bunchy here, but I think it will look cute with leggings and tall boots for fall. I love the mock neck, and it’s on the softer side. These booties were also a slam dunk! Not only are they super comfy, but they’re also waterproof! Great for slushy winters in Denver.

This top I really liked. It’s super soft on the outside and has that sweatshirt feel on the inside. This was another item that came home with me, but after thinking about my price per wear, I don’t believe I’ll be keeping it since I have a lot of sweatshirts, and I don’t think I would reach for this as much.
1 State Floral Dress | Kut by the Kloth Brown Suede Jacket | Boots

This dress and boot combo was one that I originally had in my outfit inspos, and I was happy that the colors, fit, and fabric were just as good in person. The dress is lined and has a pocket plus side ties for a great hourglass figure. It’s not too short and has great fall colors, one I can see myself wearing to many fall events.

WORKWEAR
This year, I felt like Halogen provided the best workwear options. They had great blazers, blouses, and shell tanks in stunning blues and grays at decent prices. They also brought back a lot of my favorite work pants, like the NYDJ ponte pants and wide leg, but since I’ve purchased those over and over and they don’t tend to restock at the sale, I passed on them this year.

ACTIVEWEAR
This year, I wasn’t really overwhelmed with activewear options. Now, I always love sneakers, but in general, I don’t feel like there was a ton outside of Zella that I fell in love with. While I like Zella in general, I tend to wear mostly CRZ, Lululemon, and Athleta, so I passed on a lot of the items I saw except for these few pieces.

I’m pretty picky on my leggings, but these are so darn soft! They are less athletic and more loungewear with a brushed soft fabric. I didn’t love any of the available tops in the NSALE to pair with these because I feel like they need a tunic that covers the lady bits, so I snagged this out of my closet.

The Varley pullover was the only other item that I wanted originally, and I had initially selected cream, but I loved this olive! It’s a great weight and can easily be paired with jeans or leggings.

BEAUTY
In years past, I’ve gone overboard with the beauty options, but this year, I felt like I made some good strategic purchases with travel-friendly items. I restocked on favorites and made one βnewβ splurge on the Jo Malone perfume set.
